Apparently, the author of the book (or his helpers) has found this bumerke in 1718, but without telling where.

- it can be from an original document kept in the familiy for 300 years. This is hardly available at Digitalarkivet.

- it can be from one of the protocols, which for most cases are available at Digitalarkivet. In that case, it "can" be found.

If we speculate on where it can be found, there are some possibilities:

- it is a signature of a transfer of property; either as the seller (can be a property that he (or his wife) owned,

but not used) or as a withness (more likely). This will be found in the pantebok ( mortgage book).

-it can be a signature on some other agreement; either as a party of the agreement or as a withness. This will

usually be in the tingbok. It can also be in the kyrkjebok (parish registry) - typically engagement for marriage, if the

vicar bothered to include the declaration from the withnesses.

Thus year 1718 for the relevant pantebok, tingbok and kyrkjebok can be reviewed.

It is possible that his father's bumerke was similar. But not sure. It could be completely different.
