I recently wrote to the Norwegian National Archives regarding my frustration in locating records on Nils Ekeberg, born 13 Nov 1874 in Vestfold and was directed to this forum

The folks at the archives told me to not fill in too many boxes in the search. They said If you use just Nils and Ekeberg, I would get many results and not all are about “my” Nils Ekeberg:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/search/persons/advanced?from=&to=&firstname=nils&lastname=ekeberg&birth_year_from=&birth_year_to=&birth_date=&birth_place=&domicile=&position=&event_year_from=&event_year_to=&event_date=&related_first_name=&related_last_name=&related_birth_year=

I just went through all the results with the detailed name search and I did find the 1893 emigrant protocol which I had missed. So that is good even though the search using that year yielded no results.

However, the detailed name search did not yield results for his 1899 nor 1906 emigration, yet there are arrival records of him in Boston for those years on Family Search. Any ideas or suggestions?

For his son Einar Rudolf Ekeberg born in 1907, only the klokkerbøker baptismal record showed up in this search, but not the record from the kirkebøker. Do you know why that did not yield inthe results and where can I find it?

Likewise for the son Olav stillborn in 1917, only the kirkebøker record showed up in this search, but not the record from the klokkerbøker. Again, do you know why that did not yield in the results and where can I find it?

These gaps and omission make me thinkI am missing maybe more records.  Any suggestions?

For the 1910 census at 001 Nils Ekeberg - 03 - 0027 Sverresgate 17 - 009 - Census districts summary - 1910 census for Larvik - The Digital Archive, is there as scanned version?  There does not appear to be one based on this transcription record.

The Nils A.N. Ekeberg recorded as an emigrant i 1893 (https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/557/pe00000000491493), is not the same Nils Ekeberg as the one you are searching for. Nils A.N. Ekeberg came from Nes in Hedmark ("Næs, Hedem.").

Nils Ekeberg, born November 13th 1874 at Holhjem in Brunlanes parish, also known as Nils Christian Ekeberg and Nils Christian Johansen, was a seaman. He probably arrived in Boston as a seaman, and he has not been recorded as an emigrant when he left Norway.

The name Ekeberg is incorrectly transcribed as "Ekerby": https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/255/pd00000025803026

Each and every transcription record is not linked directly to the scanned version, but there is a link to digitised (scanned) version in the bottom right corner. You have to navigate the census to find the correct document: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/ft60137930000510

May I ask why you are interested in Nils Christian Ekeberg? By coincidence I happen to know a few of his descendants in the Larvik area.

Thank you so much.  This is so very helpful.  I think this should help complete as the records on Nils Kristian Ekeberg.

My interest is that Nils and siblings were first cousin to my grandmother, Ida Nelsen Burgh. Her father was Martin Hans Teodor Ekeberg Nelsen, born 1861, and brother of Nils' mother Kristine. Nils' brother Carl Johnson came to Chicago, like Martin, and I wrote an article about him. During that research, I found much about Nils and want to write an article about Nils.

In my first visit to Norway, I met Bjorn Arild, who I think may descend from Nils, but I forget what line he came from. I am waiting to hear back from him. If you can put me in touch with any of this family, I would greatly appreciate it.  My email is sgburgh@ameritech.net -- I live in Chicago and am a retired library director.
