What do these words mean? Midlertidig bosted Malersvend Trossamfunn Udtraat intet samfundThank you for any help.

"Midlertidig bosted" means the person is only staying there temporarily, and not usually living there."Malersvend" means a painter (or what it is called, someone who paints, say, houses)."Trossamfunn" means religion. "Udtraat" means (s)he has left some religion, presumably the church. "intet samfund" means no religion, or similar.

I agree with Vidar's translations, but to be more precise a "malersvend" was a "painter's apprentice".

There has been a slight mistranslation of the word svenn (svend). A svenn is one who has completed his basic training in his craft, and the corresponding word in English is a journeyman. An apprentice is one who is doing his basic craft training and should be translated into Norwegian with lærling. Mvh Vidar
