John R. Peterson, son av Rognald Pederson frå Belle i Aurland og Martha Nilsdotter frå Svangstu i Luster, var fødd i Faribault Co., MN 14.8.1866 og døydde i indianarreservatet i Mahnomen Co., MN 4.11.1924. Han skal ha gift seg kring 1901 med ei «spennande» dame: Exilda Estey, f. Roy, fødd i Morrison Co., MN 27.3.1868. Ho døydde i Mahnomen Co., MN 7.2.1936. PETERSON Today at Beaulieu occurs the burial of John R. Peterson, one of Mahnomen county's earliest settlers. His death occurred Tuesday evening at his home just out of town, after a long illness. For the past year he has been confined to his home most of the time, although he has been able to get out in a car, and last Saturday he went to White Earth to consult Dr. Abbott who has been treating him. Mr. Peterson was a native of Minnesota, having been born at Wells, fifty-eight years ago. His immediate family consists of his wife, two daughters, Mabel and Philomene, and two sons, Albert and Roy. He also leaves two brothers, Nelson and Peter, who have recently visited him here. The former lives in Saskatchewan and the latter at Holland, Minn. It had been many years since he had seen either. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Gilbert, of Madison, Minn. Percy and William Estery, Mrs. L. Klaboe, of Pelican Rapids, Mrs. Isaac Fairbanks of White Earth and Mrs. Walter Neubert of Mahnomen are step-children. Burial takes place at the Beaulieu Catholic cemetery this afternoon beside one child who had gone on before. Mr. Peterson was a quiet unassuming citizen, with a host of friends and no enemies. Before he lost his health and was able to mingle with his fellow townsmen, he was one of the most companionable of men, and to those who saw him during his long illness he always had the same cheery word.
