Tracing ancestor though tax and bankruptcy records.

Hello!

I have been researching Jacob Møller Knutzen for 4 years and have found many pieces to his complicated puzzle. However, his identity through tax records were traced 20 years ago through a Norwegian genealogist. I am trying to find these tax records online and have hit a brick wall.

 

Even more importantly, living in Oslo, JMK goes from making 500 spesidaler a year in 1865, to being absent from the tax records in 1866 and becoming bankrupt in 1867. There is a story in our family that he left his son in foster care and went to America, perhaps on business at this time. However, he is back in Oslo by 1867, so something catastrophic must have happened if he is bankrupt. The Norwegian genealogist said there was a hand-written note declaring bankruptcy in 1867, but I do not know how to locate it and I have searched through many probate records. Jacob's bankruptcy came from registrations in Statsarkivet in Oslo, where the old Christiania (Oslo) probate sources are kept, but I cannot find them. I would like to know if it gives a clue as to what happened. He is a pauper in his retirement years in Farsund.

 

I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.
