farm location

I would appreciate any help in locating the farm (near Namdalseid) on which Casper Jennsen (Hundseth) and Serina Larsdatter (Beatty Rohammer) raised their children: John, Anna, Conrad, Olianna, and Christine. What I understand from the digitalarkivet, according to the 1865 census, the family lived at "Rural residence: 0052 Hundset."  Thank you!

On the map that Even placed here shows the location of the Hundset farms there are 4 or 5 of them. You are asking where Casper Jennsen (Hundseth) lived, the map below shows the borders of the farm, where the building were I do not know. Then I need to ask people with local knowledge. I have distant relatives living on one of the Hundset farms

 

This is a small farm and not flat at all, it is a very steep hill behind the farms.

That book tells that the main house is built in 1885. The farm was sold out of the family when the son John, which was unmarried, died in 1944.

Wow! Thanks for this additional information. Very helpful. I plan to travel to the area this summer. I think I'll be the first of Kristine's relatives to visit the farm. Am I correct in ascertaining that none of Kristine's siblings married?

That need to be clarified, but the farm book states that Anna was married in Lysøysund, that is located by the coast a distance further south.

John was unmarried - died in 1944

his sister Oleanna was taking care of the house for him died in 1959, no writing about children.

Conrad died in 1898.

No it just a change of numbering, as far as I can understand it is the same farm that Kasper got in 1864, that his son had until 1944

Ovid Henry was from the area. Would it have been typical for older folks like John and Oleanna to foster a child? Ovid Henry would have been 11 years old in the 1920 census when he is listed as a foster child.

I am not sure, but the farm Gryta is a neighbour farm to Rødhammer were John and Oleanna  mother was born. Maybe a relation, a guess without me checking it.

I could not find him in sources for Namdalseid after the 1920 census, I checked the confirmation and the deaths.

Could also mention that this is the last traces so far I found of Anna: (the daughter that should be married in Lysøysund)

 

She is in Namsos both inn the 1891 and 1885 census:

John Kaspersen repaired watches and wall clocks, and he built a kind of music instrument. Maybe he just made one of that kind.

 

I have a picture showing John Kaspersen and his sister Oleanna together with some of their neighbors. John is standing at a music instrument he has made himself.  My aunt is on the picture as a little girl. She told me she used to visit John and sit at his table when he was working. Later she got this instrument as a present. When she was in her eighties (she died 6 years ago, at an age of 90)  she gave the instrument to the local museum, where it is to be seen now. Maybe it still works. 

The couple who owns this Hundset farm now, found a sentence written by John  on a log in the house.
