Need advice and/or help finding information

Recommended Posts

Following the Bygdebok posted by Bjarne, father Ole Amundsen and his wife along with Aron Olsen and his wife and family are living at Finsæter in the 1865 Census. I wonder where Krisfofer Olsen and his family went off to? We know that Perine Randine was married in  1864 and based on the US Census Records for her husband they arrived in the US in 1864. Unfortunately that is so early that it is difficult to find passage records.

Norway Heritage does have a list of ships leaving Norway in the early days. Here is a list of the ships leaving in 1864. Of most interest would be the Bark Bergen leaving Tromsø on May 15 traveling to Quebec. There is no passenger list for that ship that I can find on Norway Heritage.

There is a passenger list for same ship leaving 1875. A quick look at that list did not turn up any passengers of interest.

Hi Anton,

I did a search at the library on Ancestry and did find some entries for a John Olsen in 1866 going to Philadelphia. Not sure he's my family member, but he was about 19 and worked on the ship. Maybe it's him and that's how he got to the US. I'll have to do more research.
